I'm back from my lovely sunny holiday in Israel where I had a great time. Me and hubby sat around at a pool for most days, went to the beach once (cos it's a mighty trek up and down to the beach) and went to Jerusalem for the day which ended up being rather action packed: quadbiking, met my grandparents for lunch, Israel Museum and the Shrine of the Book, then we decided to be adventuresome and drive to the Dead Sea, which only ended up being about 40 minutes away. We rubbed some mud all over our legs (didn't want to get too dirty!) and then drive back to Jerusalem where we met some friends for dinner.
So when we got back it was the day before result day for hubby, and unfortunately, he didn't pass the exam, which means he might not be able to progress to the next year. It's really upsetting and we don't know what to do.
We're trying to appeal, but it's looking likely he'll have to retake. :(
As for me, still no joy with the job. Haven't heard back from the height of rudeness people, even though I've tried to call them. Got two interviews lined up over the coming weeks but I'll keep you posted.

About me
I'm a freelance writer specialising in film and culture. I've had work published in Total DVD and the Sunday Times Magazine, as well as in the giant coffee table books Superyacht and New York.
I've always been into film and popular culture, although before I decided to make these areas my career, it was more based on the fact that I enjoyed going to the cinema, reading books, listening to contemporary music and generally enjoying life around me.
Choosing what degree to study at uni, I settled on English with Film for no other reason than that it sounded fun. I'd always liked English - reading and writing were my strengths - and film, well, why not?
Two years into my degree at King's College London, I realised that I did actually want to pursue a career in this field. So, I told myself, I'd better get a move on in terms of work experience. I began writing for Kings's newspaper, Roar, as well as for the London Student paper. I also contributed a couple of articles to a New Zealand fashion e-zine, Thread, and film journal, Bright Lights.
During that summer I worked - for free - at various magazines, newspapers and publishing houses, including Total Film, Total DVD, NME, The Jewish News and Penguin. Although I didn't earn money, I gained experience and assurance that this is what I want to do.
The following summer I secured two internships, one at Tatler and one at The Sunday Times Magazine. I was called back into The Sunday Times a couple of times for some shift work. By then I was looking for a full-time job.
A few months and what seemed to me a few million job applications later, I was appointed freelance Assistant Editor at Gloria, a publishing house specialising in huge-format, luxury coffee table books on diverse topics.
